Winter Acting Camp Registration

Due to new restrictions being added to Allegheny County in regard to Covid-19 and public gatherings, Gemini Theater Company has chosen to postpone this Winter Camp for 2020 in an effort to keep our facility within safety guidelines for the time being. We are sad to not run this in-person program, but we look forward to seeing many of you in our new semester starting the week of January 11!

We are so excited to provide a special 4-day camp week for our families during the Winter Break of many local schools. It has been an unusual year, and we know school has had it’s changes all semester long. This mixed-age group camp is a great way for kids to have a few days of active creativity with new friends and share their skills in a one-of-a-kind performance on the last camp day. Space will be LIMITED for this camp in an effort to maintain a safe and healthy environment for our campers.

Ages 6 - 12

AGES 6 – 12 WORKSHOP GROUP (9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.): Does your son or daughter like to pretend? This camp will unlock your child’s creativity and take him/her on a week-long adventure into the imagination! Young actors choose their own characters and put them all together into an original story, which they write, rehearse and perform as a mini play on the last day of the workshop. While having fun and making new friends, your child will improve his/her ability to listen, follow directions, compose a story, understand conflict & resolution, develop a character, accomplish an objective, collaborate with peers, perform in front of an audience, and use the imagination. With older campers being part of the group, we are excited to have them become mentors to our younger actors, creating a unique show for all to enjoy!

Tuition for camp week: $325.00
**Tuition Assistance available for ALL who apply**

Important Details:

  1. All campers are required to wear a mask during the camp week. We will provide a special CLEAR mask to all campers to use on their performance day. (These are the same masks we are using in our live performances.) A camper may choose to use their own mask for the show. We will have extra masks on hand, should anyone need one during the camp day.
  2. Temperatures will be taken every day upon arriving at camp. If anyone has a temperature above 99°, they will be asked to go home for the day as a precaution. The theater is cleaned daily during and after camp. Hand sanitizer will be available in the theater space at all times.
  3. Due to limitations on public space, parents will be unable to stay in the building for the day. We encourage going to Black Forge Coffee, which is located in walking distance from the theater, if you would like to stay local to camp.
  4. Campers must provide their own lunch. We will provide snack twice a day, offering simple items of juice or water and snack. If your child has special dietary needs or allergies, we recommend providing their snack, as well. All of our snacks are nut-free though several may contain wheat and/or dairy.
  5. Depending on County mandates, each camper may only have up to two audience members at the show. We will be recording it, and a copy of the video will be emailed as a link and a DVD can be provided upon request. Typical turn-around for editing is one week. Please note: if mandates change, audience numbers could go DOWN or up.
  6. Every camper will receive a cast photo and t-shirt at the end of the week.
